Linval Thompson’s native son of Kingston 13, recorded early shots for Augustus Pablo (‘Natty Dread A Pressure Dem”), Lee Perry (‘Kung Fu Man’) and Phil Pratt (‘Jah Jah Redder Than Red’) before moving on to work with Bunny Lee on an incredible run of hits including ‘Don’t Cut Off Your Dread Locks’. Moving into production Linval launched his own Thompson Sound label and immediately hit the big time with his own top draw vocal set ‘I Love Marijuana’ plus the Revolutionaries dub punch ‘Negrea Love Dub’. Linval Thompson was pivotal in the Greensleeves Records story introducing Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes to the label as well supplying a number of hit albums himself both as vocalist and as a producer for artist like Eek-A-Mouse and Freddie McGregor.
