Greensleeves Blue Plaque

Historic Moment - The Greensleeves Blue Plaque takes its place

The Greensleeves Records Blue Plaque was finally delivered to its new home at the site of the Greensleeves shop in Shepherd’s Bush station. The stage celebration and unveiling were curated by The Nubian Jak Community Trust and took pace on 1st July 2023, International Reggae Day in association with Hammersmith & Fulham Council, TfL and VP Records. The plaque is on the site of the famous record shop, which led to the founding of the record label in 1977. NJCT is the only commemorative plaque and sculpture scheme focused on memorialising the historic contribution of Black and minority ethnic people in Britain and beyond.

Chris Cracknell and Chris Sedgwick, Greensleeves Records founders joined the event to celebrate the history with their families. General Saint, who released Two Bad DJ and Stop That Train with Clint Eastwood on Greensleeves in the early 80s, attended and performed at the Event.
