Toyan kicked off his career chatting ‘pon top Kingston’s sounds Socialist Roots and Romantic HiFi with his first discs being voiced for producer Don Mais’s Roots Tradition label. However it was linking up with Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes that really saw Toyan bust large, his increasing popularity on Junjo’s Volcano Sound leading Junjo to take him down to Channel One in ’81 to voice the classic Greensleeves album ‘How The West Was Won’. Toyan followed this with another Junjo / Roots Radics set by going face to face with a Nicodemus for a popular DJ Clash album alos released by Greensleeves. Three more Junjo produced albums recorded followed ‘Spar With Me’, ‘DJ Daddy’ & ‘Every Posse Want Me’ plus further hit sets for Channel One, Jah Thomas & George Phang. Toyan remained a popular draw starring on sounds like Jammy’s Gemini, Arrows & Lees Unlimited before meeting an untimely end in 1991.
