Standing six foot six Eek-A-Mouse is a giant of reggae music in every sense and has kept the dancehall flame alive for over four decades. A cloud had descended over reggae music in 1981 with the death of its iconic figurehead Robert Nesta Marley and while the world outside of Jamaica would spend many years waiting in vain for a successor the Jamaican people would take to heart the words of Marley himself to “forget your troubles and dance” and embrace the emerging Dancehall sound that would take reggae music into the new decade. Eek-A-Mouse’s ‘Wa-Do-Dem’ is one of the biggest albums to be released in this golden period of Jamaican music. Mouse’s many hits continue to sound as fresh today as the night they were cut.
