Cultural Roots emerged as a four-part harmony group for producer Donovan Germain in the late 1970s, releasing two successful albums ‘Revolutionary Sounds’ and ‘‘Drift Away From Evil’ along with enjoying massive success with the sound-system favourite ‘Mr Bossman’. This original line-up then went on to record for Henry ‘Junjo’ Lawes, releasing the ‘Hell A Go Pop’ album on Greensleeves, the album featuring the hit title track plus the ever-popular ‘Love Feelings’. The group re-emerged in 1988 with a new trio line-up for King Jammy, still led by singer Wade Dyce and recorded ‘Running Back To Me’ an album featuring prime King Jammy digital production including the ever-cultural “His Majesty Reign” and the moving love song “Passion Lover,” which shares the backing track with one of King Jammy’s all-time smash hits, Frankie Paul’s ‘I Know The Score’. ‘Rougher Yet’ a next album for Greensleeves followed a year later this time for producer Redman, featuring two hit singles ‘Sweet Reggae Music’ and ‘Rougher Yet’ that kept the Cultural Roots flame ablaze.
