Ranking Dread first bust out as a mic man on Ray Symbolic’s champion rub-a-dub sound system, moving to London he linked up with Lloyd Coxsone Sound to become of the most in-demand artists on the UK reggae scene. Three successful albums, ‘Girl’s Fiesta’ for producer Linval Thompson, and ‘Lots Of Loving’ for Sugar Minott and the ‘Kunte Kinte Roots’ set for Burning Sounds increased his profile and when he dropped the single ‘Fattie Boom Boom’ on a Greensleeves 12” disco he picked up BBC radio plays and came very close to breaking into the national charts. More hit 12″ singles for Greensleeves followed ‘Love A Dub’ , ‘Shut Me Mouth’, ‘My Mammy’ & ‘If Nanny Was Here’ all collected together on the essential ‘Most Wanted’ collection.
