Nicodemus

Nicodemus bust on the scene in 1976 as a mic-man ‘longside selector Danny Dread for the Socialist Roots Sound System. Recording  early sides for the likes of Prince Tony, Joe Gibbs & Prince Jammy, it was the chart success of the Junjo Lawes produced ‘Bone Connection’ released by Greensleeves in1981 that brought him international success. The outbreak of Nicodemus-mania that followed  was soon capitalised on by Greensleeves with a best-selling DJ Clash album with Toyan and LPs for Jammy (Dance Hall Style) and Channel One (She Love It In The Morning). 1986 saw Nicodemus riding the changing styles of reggae music, recording the classic Fat Man Riddim backed ‘Nuff Respect’ album for Skengdon and the big ‘Mr Fabulous’ album for Witty. Nicodemus continued  to hit new highs in the ‘90’s with ‘Cabin Stabbin’, an attention grabbing three the hard way set with Super Cat & Junior Demus, a return to the Jammy’s stable for the ‘Old Veteran’ album released by VP and a next Wild Apache combination set for the major label Sony. Tragically  Nicodemus passed away in 1996 due to complications arising from diabetes, always held in high regard his important role in dancehall history will never be forgotten.
